Making a Difference in McCracken County

Feb 14, 2025Success Stories

At WKAS, we’re committed to helping families in times of need. Here are two recent success stories that highlight how our programs are making an impact:

✔️ A mother in crisis reached out when her electricity was disconnected. With no transportation and a sick child at home, she couldn’t make it to our office, but our CSBG Outreach Worker was able to assist through phone and email. Thanks to the Signet Credit Union Program, we helped pay her past-due balance and enrolled her in the KY CFN Program to cover additional fees—ensuring her family had power during dangerously cold temperatures.

✔️ Another client needed help switching her Pay as You Go electric account into her name, as required by her landlord. Financially, this was out of reach, but with our recent Signet Credit Union Program funds, we were able to cover her $85 deposit—giving her the stability she needed.

We’re proud to provide real solutions for real people when they need it most. If you or someone you know needs assistance, reach out to your local WKAS office—we’re here to help!
