Success Stories from Our WKAS Marshall County Office

Feb 27, 2025Success Stories

Every day, we have the opportunity to change lives through the work we do at WKAS. Here are a few recent success stories from our Marshall County Office that remind us why we do what we do:

✔️ Helping Someone on Their Journey to Sobriety
A man struggling with addiction reached out, desperate for help. While Tia provided support over the phone, we contacted local rehab centers and found one that could take him in immediately. We also helped secure the Medicaid insurance he needed to stay in treatment. Since then, he has checked in with us, sharing his progress and gratitude for the support that helped him take the first step toward recovery.

✔️ Restoring Power & Hope
A woman had been without electricity for two months during the middle of winter, leaving her in distress. She had no way to get the help she needed, so we reached out to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, ensuring she received immediate support. After guiding her through the necessary paperwork, we were able to restore her electricity the same day. She now knows about all our programs and resources to prevent future crises.

✔️ Supporting a Disabled Family in Need
A client and his disabled son were facing electricity disconnection but couldn’t leave their home to seek help. We worked with them remotely to gather the necessary documents and successfully enrolled them in the LIHEAP program, ensuring they could keep their lights on. He now calls regularly, expressing gratitude and staying informed about available assistance.

These stories remind us that helping even one person can make a world of difference. If you or someone you know needs assistance, WKAS is here to help.
